REDWOOD CABINS IN BIG SUR SINCE 1928
Rustic. Peaceful.
Surrounded by Nature.
Unplug in nature, sleep by the river, and start your day with breakfast from our on-site café.
Rustic Big Sur Cabins — where simplicity meets the soul of the coast

Established in 1928, Ripplewood Resort is one of Big Sur’s oldest continuously operating lodges. Originally a campground along the “Old Coast Trail,” it has welcomed generations of travelers seeking a peaceful escape beneath the redwoods.
From its early days as a camping destination to today’s collection of rustic cabins, café, and general store, Ripplewood remains rooted in simplicity, natural beauty, and a slower pace of life. It’s a different kind of Big Sur lodging experience—quiet, cozy, and deeply connected to the land.

Everything you need, steps from your cabin
Considered “modern” when they were built in the 1920s and 30s, all cabins have indoor plumbing, heaters, bedding and towels, refrigerators, coffee makers, and bathroom amenities. Our on-site general store, gas station, and cafe, to many guests, means never having to leave the property.
Whether you’re enjoying a meal-with-a-view at your cabin or breakfast, brunch, or lunch on our garden patio, Ripplewood makes vacationing in Big Sur easy, peaceful, and carefree.
