Ripplewood Resort Cabins –
comfort, charm and convenience

Ripplewood’s Big Sur River cabins are designed for travelers who value quiet, comfort, and connection to nature. Whether you’re planning a romantic escape, a peaceful family retreat, or a solo getaway, our riverside lodging offers everything you need—without the distractions of crowds or large events.

We don’t host weddings, parties, or group retreats—just personal, restful stays rooted in the natural beauty of the Big Sur River.

RUSTIC CABINS, MODERN COMFORTS

Our Big Sur River cabins blend historic charm with modern essentials like heating, indoor plumbing, and fresh linens. Each cabin is uniquely furnished for comfort and simplicity—no TVs, no phones, just peace.

NATURE-FIRST, CENTRALLY LOCATED

Situated steps from the Big Sur River, scenic hikes, and Highway 1, Ripplewood offers a rare chance to stay close to nature without sacrificing accessibility. Skip the crowds and experience Big Sur from your own forested basecamp.

CAFÉ, GENERAL STORE & CHEVRON GAS ON-SITE

Enjoy breakfast at our beloved café, grab road snacks at the general store, or refuel at our Chevron station—all without leaving the resort. It’s convenience you won’t find at most Big Sur lodging.

KITCHENS, FIREPLACES & PICNIC AREAS AVAILABLE

Many cabins include kitchenettes, wood-burning fireplaces, and outdoor fire rings. Whether you’re cooking in, dining by the river, or winding down by the fire, you’ll find space to slow down and reconnect.

Visit Big Sur | Know Before You Burn

Ripplewood—like all properties across Big Sur—follows strict fire safety protocols to protect this wild, beautiful place. When you visit Big Sur, please respect local burn rules: open flames are only allowed in designated fire rings, and campfires must be fully extinguished with water—never left to smolder. Gathering wood is prohibited; firewood is available for purchase at our general store.

The risk of wildfire in Big Sur is high year-round. By staying informed and burning responsibly, you help preserve the forests, homes, and history that make this stretch of the California coast so extraordinary. Learn fire safety tips from Smokey Bear →

Travel light, tread gently — leave Big Sur better than you found it

Respect the Land

Stay on marked trails. Don’t pick wildflowers. Pack out what you pack in.

Ripplewood has stood quietly beneath these redwoods for nearly a century. As you visit Big Sur, we invite you to help protect what makes it so special—for the land, the wildlife, and the travelers who follow in your footsteps.

Support Local, Tread Lightly

Buy from local businesses. Refuel responsibly. Follow posted signage and park rules.

Be Mindful of Noise

No outdoor speakers. No late-night parties. Let the birdsong and river be your soundtrack.
