No, Ripplewood Resort is designed for travelers looking to stay in Big Sur quietly.

Ripplewood offers an intimate, nature-centered experience that isn’t suited for large gatherings. We do not host weddings, retreats, or group bookings. Guests come here to stay in Big Sur for its peace and simplicity—something we proudly protect for every visitor.

Yes, many of our Big Sur cabins include kitchenettes and wood-burning fireplaces.

We offer a range of cabins for those looking to stay in Big Sur with added comfort. Kitchen-equipped units include cookware and utensils, while select cabins feature fireplaces with wood provided daily. Perfect for those who enjoy a self-sufficient Big Sur stay.

We provide limited Wi-Fi, but like most of Big Sur, there is no cell reception.

Staying in Big Sur means disconnecting from the usual distractions. While we offer free Wi-Fi near the café and store, and have recently added Wi-Fi around the cabins, there is no cell service on the property. Guests staying with us enjoy a rare opportunity to unplug and slow down.

Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM.

We kindly ask that guests honor these times so our team has time to clean and prepare the cabins. Early check-ins and late check-outs are not guaranteed but can sometimes be arranged in advance, depending on availability.

No, Ripplewood does not allow pets.

To preserve the peaceful environment for all guests and protect local wildlife, pets are not permitted on the property. Service animals are, of course, welcome as required by law.

Yes, our café serves breakfast and lunch daily.

The Ripplewood Café is open from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM and offers hearty breakfasts, fresh lunches, and vegetarian or gluten-free options. Guests are welcome to dine inside, outside on the patio, or those staying here often take their meals back to their cabin to enjoy with a view.

 

Yes—if you stay in a kitchen cabin, or one with a fire ring or picnic table.

We make it easy to stay in Big Sur comfortably. Many cabins have kitchens, and others feature outdoor spaces with fire rings and picnic tables. Firewood is available on-site, and safety protocols must be followed.

Yes, our general store offers groceries, gas, and essentials.

Our on-site Chevron station and general store provide groceries, snacks, souvenirs, camping supplies, and fuel. It’s a convenient stop for travelers and locals alike, located right at the heart of the resort and open daily from 8:00 AM.

Yes—Ripplewood is family-friendly, but calm and quiet.

Families enjoy our riverside setting and cozy cabins, but we are not a playground-style resort.

The joyful sound of children and the young-at-heart at play is welcome until sunset. If you’re looking to stay in Big Sur as a family that values nature, quiet, and quality time, you’ll feel right at home. 

No, outdoor speakers and parties are not allowed.

What are Ripplewood Resort’s guest policies?

Ripplewood Resort is designed to offer a quiet, grounded escape in the heart of Big Sur. We ask that all guests help preserve this environment by following a few simple policies: 

General Resort Policies
  • Quiet hours are in effect at all times. Joyful daytime play is welcome, but no outdoor audio is permitted at any time.

  • Personal speakers must remain indoors and set to a volume not audible outside.

  • Boisterous behavior, parties, or group gatherings are not allowed and may result in removal from the property.

  • Ripplewood Resort is for use by registered guests only.

  • All cabins are non-smoking.

  • No pets are allowed on the property.

  • Occupancy must not exceed the stated cabin limit. Additional guests may be denied accommodation or charged $100 per person.

  • Check-in: 3:30 PM

  • Check-out: 11:00 AM

    Late departures may result in additional charges.

  • Daily housekeeping begins at 11:00 AM.

  • Use the blue tag if you’d like earlier service, or the red tag to opt out for the day.

  • Guests in kitchen-equipped cabins must wash their dishes before check-out; otherwise, a $25 cleaning fee applies.

  • Please report any maintenance needs or cabin damage during your stay.

  • Avoid wearing wet, muddy, or sandy shoes inside the cabins.

  • Bedding, towels, and cookware are for cabin use only. Beach towels and blankets are available for purchase in the general store.

  • Please do not block cabin walkways with personal or recreational items.
